It has taken me a long time to distance myself (as a layman) from the scientific consensus on anthropogenic warming; to grasp that consensus does not in itself guarantee reliability of conclusions; then to be struck (indeed illuminated) by the intensity of animosity, censorship and slander directed at the those scientists who question the normal paradigm - as has happened to those challenging the given understanding of things through the ages. In Galileo's time, geocentrism (that the earth is the centre of the solar system) was upheld by scientists, by state and church as well as by commonsense - "See the sun rise, see it pass overhead, see it set, while the earth under my feet stands still"), I believe that the Vatican has now apologised to the memory of Galileo for using the inquisition to silence his heliocentric propositions about our solar system - but the apology came nearly four centuries after Gallileo published his 'Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems' (1632).

Scientists including Steven Koonin and William Happer seem to have made sensible comments. The former wrote a 2021 book 'Unsettled'. I am slowly reading it, almost word by word. Much of the problem is that the media and some scientific bodies using misleading phrases which don't reflect the data in the chart(s).
The late great Richard Feynman wasn't a climate scientist. But he had much to say on the desperate need for scientific integrity. Koonin also makes a plea for this at the front of his book. It may be a dig at some of his colleagues.
Possibly some observed warming is a combination of a) natural factors and b) fossil fuel combustion in especially the past 40 years. Have a look at a chart showing the rate of world coal, oil and natural gas extraction and how it took off after that.
When you manipulate the weather collection stations and remove cold ones... then including the Urban Heat Effect it can ALWAYS show warming. Deceit by exclusion
